Tag

First of all, I need everyone to comment on my blog and let me know if it is showing up wierd on their screens. My sister told me that it would come up wierd everytime on their computer so I am curious.

Second, my tag. Amy tagged me and I have contemplated myself for days and tried to come up with six quirky unimpressive things about me that you may or may not know. I have come up with a few and I am hoping that they help get my brain moving. Most of all, I am excited to tag some of my family and see what their answers are. It's the perfect post for you couples (you know who you are) that only update their blog once a month because you think your'e boring. Anyways, here it goes.

1. I looooooove cake frosting. Forget the cake, give me the icing. This is hereditary because my grandma Driggs was the same way. We could just sit and eat a bowl of icing. YUUUMMMM!!!

2. I have become a total yoga junkie. I love it. I think it is so relaxing. You all really must try it.

3. I hate clothes. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate all clothes just the kind that you would wear out into public. As soon as I know that I don't have anywhere else to go in the day, I put jamies on. Jamies, pajamas, sweats. . . I don't care what you call it as long as it is super comfortable. Just ask Brian, I will hang onto jamies FOREVER even if I look homeless in them. So, if you drop in on me unexpectadly you will most likely find me grunged down.

4. Now, some of you may think less of me after I list this one, but I am a huge fan of DI (yes, that is Deseret Industries) finds. My favorite sections are the kids movies (VHS) where I have pretty much acquired every Disney movie made and the children's book section. There are some items that I would NEVER buy from DI, but you truly can find hidden treasures. You would all probably be surprised to note that the DI in Ogden is MUCH better that Utah County DI's because it is not nearly as busy or picked over. That really is information that noone should know.

5. Brian turned me into a major germaphobe. Before we got married, I didn't worry much about illnesses or germs in general. Now, I am constantly disinfecting my hands and the kids. Hopefully we aren't damaging out kids too much.

6. I currently have a pathetic addiction to Dr. Pepper. I can't stop. It's like a drug. Somehow I have so thoroughly convinced my mind that Dr. Pepper makes me feel better and now whenever I have a frustrated moment or something unexpected occurs I NEED a Dr. Pepper. I can't stand Diet Dr. Pepper which makes it even more unhealthy. I really have to break this bad habit fast. . . it just keeps getting worse.

Phew! That was harder than I thought. There's my six. Stay tuned for Brian's because Greg tagged him. I TAG ANDY, NATALIE, BRIAN, MICHELLE, CHARISSE, KORY, AND SARAH (get blogging)!!!!

BYU Game

This past weekend was a fun family weekend for both Brian and me. Brian's brother Mike was up for the week on business but found plenty of time to visit family. We have missed Mike and Mel tons since they have moved so it was so good to see Mike for a few days. He didn't help with the missing part for Brian though because Brian had so much fun hanging out with Mike that he is even more sad that they don't live here anymore.

It was the annual Marchant family BYU game. Andy (my oldest brother) started this tradition quite a few years ago and it is definately one of the highlights of the year. We always go to Brick Oven (yuuuummmmm) and then the game. There are always very classic moments that happen at the games that create traditions for the next year. I know some of my siblings got some really good video of some of those moments so you'll all have to blog hop and check them out. Natalie couldn't come this year :0( so Andy brought "baby Brian" (this nickname is really outdated). It was fun to start including kids in the tradition. It is quite possible that Adin will be attending BYU games with us before Meg. I just don't know how interested Meg would be. Here are a few pics from the game.

You can see the excitement on Brian's face.
Charisse and Kory wouldn't stop making out the whole game (sheesh newlyweds, well, sort of)

Brian came and sat with us for the 3rd quarter. Brian's brothers all got tickets to the game this year too since Mike was in town.
This video cracks me up. If I didn't stand up after each touchdown, then this was my view. Hee Hee.
It was a lot of fun to see both of our families this past weekend. We both have such great families. We are very blessed.

Poor Bubby

What a crazy week. On one of the particularly bad days we had a particularly bad experience. I was ripping down wallpaper in the hall 1/2" at a time. GRRRR! Meg and Adin were playing in Meg's room. Well Adin tried to climb on Meg's perfectly made bed which upset Meg. She picked up Adin and set him outside her door and slammed the door shut. Well, his had happened to be in the door. Three of his fingers were in the hinge side of the door and Meg pushed the door with all her might and made it shut completely while his fingers were in there. I had heard the screaming at the begining and right before she slammed the door I yelled back "Meg don't slam the door," then I heard the scream. I knew right away that this couldn't be good. I called Brian at school and told him to bring the car home. Adin screamed the whole 15 minutes we waited for Brian. His fingers started swelling a lot. They were HUGE! We took him to the pediatrician who ordered x-rays. The x-rays (THANKFULLY) were negative. The doctor wanted him to keep the splint on, but said if he was really annoyed by it then we were okay to take it off since it wasn't actually broken. The second we got him home he wanted it off. They are still tender, but he is such a tough kid that he doesn't complain.
Meg was a disaster. As soon as I told her what she did, she went to her room bawling her lungs out (just as loud or louder than Adin). It was such a panicked moment trying to help bub and keep ice on it that I couldn't help her right away. When I did ask her why she was crying she said (howling) "I don't want to go to jail" We have absolutely no idea where she got this idea. We didn't think she even knew what jail was. No matter how much we reassured her she was certain she was going to jail. At the doctor's office, Adin was so brave and didn't even cry for any of it. Meg on the other hand was bawling her eyes out (she hates the doctor). Thank goodness things like that don't happen everyday.

Playing it up. We would ask him what happened to his fingers and he would get a moping voice and say "Owie Muggie"

Happy Early Birthday Adin

Adin won't turn two till November, but I think the terrible twos have started a little bit early. One night Adin went to bed my normal sweet Adin and he woke up my sweet Adin with a serious attitude. I thought he was just having a bad day but he has been that way all week. A couple examples...

I was getting him dressed for the day and we were in a hurry because I needed to be somewhere and he did not like the clothes I picked for him (he has never cared in the past). He kicked and screamed the whole time that I was putting them on and when I left the room he stripped himself naked. The same issue came up when I put his shoes on and again at night when it was time for jamies. The next few days were the same. It was like he was disagreeing just to disagree.

That night he waited impatiently at the bar while I fixed dinner. He kept saying, "Ready?" He does this every day and he just keeps repeating it over and over no matter how I respond. When it was all ready I dished him a plate. He studied it for a minute and with a glare on his face he shoved it away. He refused to eat it so much so that he didn't mind going to bed hungry.

Another example...typically, Adin is usually the one begging Meg to play with him. One afternoon Meg wanted bubby to play with her. She was in Adin's room calling him to come play. He did his same glare face (some of you have been priviliged to witness Adin's glare I am really trying to catch it on camera) and kept yelling in a angry voice, "NO, NO, NO MEGGIE."

Wow! What a sass. Meg was a streaky terrible two-er. I don't remember her being horrible, but she did have her moments. I am not sure what I am in for with Adin. Hopefully this is a short streak.

Peach Days Weekend

This past weekend was Peach days in Brigham City. Brian and I are big fans of Peach days. We both wondered what it was about peach days that made us like it so much. The parade always seems too long and the carnival ends up being kind of a trashy event. We decided that it is definately the family visit that we like so much. Watching a parade with the Droubay's is very entertaining. They all have really funny comments to make about everything. This year was no exception. The problem we ran into this year was and excessive amount of candy being thrown. Adin could not stop eating it. It was an eating fest for Adin and Gabi. I am surprised that neither of them ended up vomiting right there.

The carnival was very entertaining this year. We took the kids to ride some rides. Chris and Jeni have kids that are our kids exact same ages. It works perfectly because they love going together. It was so cute because Adin and Aliza rode together on a couple rides and every once in a while they would look at each other and start talking. We are not sure what they were talking about, but it was adorable. Aliza was also putting the moves on Adin. We made a classic Peach Days memory with Chris and Jeni. We were waiting in line for the kids to ride some trucks. All of a sudden a rather large hispanic woman decked another woman in the face. When the woman staggered from the blow the hispanic woman starting punching her in the back of the head. It was broken up and the lady that got punched left screaming, swearing and crying. The hispanic woman picked up her little girl (about Adin's size) and was checking her lip a lot. From what we could gather we think the girl that was beaten accidentally knocked this little girl over and her mother reacted by beating the woman up. It was crazy and a classic trashy Peach Days moment.

We stayed overnight mainly because we were too tired by night time but also because our kids love to visit grandma and grandpa 'bay. Adin seems to have a special bond with his grandpa 'bay and Meg said that she wanted to stay there forever. On Sunday, Brian needed some quiet time to do some reading for school. I decided to drive up to Logan with the kids and visit my grandma. It has been WAY too long since I have been up to see her even though it hasn't been nearly as long as she thinks it has. She thinks I haven't seen her since Meg was just a month or two old. Really I have seen her 4-5 times since then, but her memory is really going. She was really excited to see the kids and I hope that she remembers it. Even though she isn't completely with it it was still a lot of fun to see her.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Busy Week

We finally have Brian back!!! It has been so much better. We ended up having a pretty busy week. My mom came for a couple days which was a lot of fun. The kids had so much fun getting to see her. We also had Mike and Kelli come over so that Mike could help us with some electrical stuff that came up. It all started with a visit from a handyman to simply repair a couple outlets. He left telling me that it were him he wouldn't sleep another night in our place without getting smoke detectors in every room. He said that the guy (the jerk) who previously owned our place thought he was a wiring genious and rigged up all these crazy things and that live wires were just sitting inside our walls. Needless to say both Brian and I were freaking out. Mike came to our rescue though. He is brilliant. He sorted everything out and checked everything in our walls. He did have to fix quite a bit of stuff, but it wasn't as horrible as our handyman made it out to be. We did learn some more really interesting stuff about the man who decked our home out as a bachelor pad. Apparently he had mounted a TV on his celing above his bed. Also, he had cut a square hole in our bathroom wall and put a TV there as well which helps to explain the surround sound in the bathroom. We know he had a TV in the kitchen as well. This guy was a nut. Here are the cords that Mike removed from our master bedroom walls.

My brother also stopped by to measure our built in TV shelves for custom cabinets. My brother has worked with custom cabinetry for many years now and he is hooking us up. Yea! I will post a before and after of that when we get them in.
We took the kids to Raging Waters on Saturday. It was quite the experience. Thankfully my sister Charisse ended up coming too. Looking back, we don't know how we would have done it without her there. Meg was a scaredy cat. She would not go down ANY slides. There were many tears. Finally she started playing in the kid land on a tiny park type slide. She also like the wave pool and the lazy river. At least she ended up having a good time. Adin loved the wave pool until a wave pushed him and Brian under the water. Then he was really freaked out and it was difficult to get him to go back in the water.

It is so wierd that summer is over and all of these swimming places are closed. This summer has flown by for us. I have always loved fall. Brian starts school tomorrow. He is completely freaking out. Not only does he not want to go but he said in all seriousness that he would rather work at pretzelmaker than go to school. I think that was a little dramatic but at least it shows how much he is dreading it. I am hoping that once things get moving at school and he knows what is going on that he will like it. Meg starts preschool in 3 weeks. That freaks me out. We'll keep you updated!
