Meg's Seven!!!! . . . :(

Meg is getting so big! I can't believe she is seven. I have weird moments off and on where I look at her and it blows my mind how long her legs are or how big her feet are. I still want her to be my little baby. It's heartbreaking really. She had been so excited for this birthday and counted down for weeks. She is one of the youngest in her grade so it was hard to go to all her friends birthdays and know hers was still months away. Now, if the number seven doesn't make you think she is getting big then her birthday wish list surely will. She didn't wish for a single toy. She wanted a camera (more specifically not a kid camera), camera bag, a watch (again not a plastic kid watch), a dry erase board calendar and craft kits. Whaaaat? No toys. I was still asking for toys when I was seven. When I pointed out that she hadn't asked for any toys she decided to wish for a plastic toy horse. Darn her. I wish she would start shrinking backwards. Here are some peeks at what she chose to do for her special day.

She used her birthday money from grandma and grandpa to go to build-a-bear. she loves that place. I can't think of a better place for a stuffed animal lover and boy is this girl ever a lover of stuffed animals. I've never seen anything like it. She will instantly emotionally connect with a certain animal. Apparently Brian was the same way when he was little.

We kind of overdid the activites on her birthday and gave her a few choices of places she could go. Out of all the options, she picked going to Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country. Riding the ponies was the big draw.

I always let the kids pick their favorite dinner on their birthday. Adin always picks pizza, and Meg always picks mashed potatoes, gravy and corn on the cob. A littl tidbit about Meg is that she easily out-eats me and Brian when it comes to meat. I have to stop her at seconds because I have learned she doesn't know when to stop and makes herself sick.

Meg and her puppy cake. She really wanted to have some people over to eat her cake and ice cream with her. We invited my family who lives close to come eat cake, and she was super excited to have them come. They made her feel so special. Sorry, somehow I didn't take pictures.

I decided to let her have a party this year. I'm kind of on the every-other-year party. She did mini build-a-bears for her fifth birthday party, and she wanted to do that again since she loooooves stuffed animals. I convinced her to have a puppy party this year...still stuffed animals with a different twist. The girls adopted puppies and made shriny dink dog collars and bows for their puppies. The puppies ended up having baby puppies that the girls had to find hidden in the back yard. Then we decorated dog houses and at puppy cupcakes. I don't know how mom's planned creative parties before the internet, but I didn't come up with anything myself.

Here's the party girls minus a couple that couldn't make it because they were on vacations (that's the hard part about summer birthdays).

After all that, we felt she was sufficiently spoiled.

Happy Birthday sweet girl. Please, pleeeeease stop growing up!

I ditto everything Charisse said. Such a cute party idea!! I bet the kids loved it. You had to do so much work though. I was so tired reading about it.

Can't believe that Meg is seven and that Makenzie is going to turn seven soon too. It's so sad when they get older. Thanks for letting Kenzie come to the b-day party-- she still loves carrying that dog and dog carrier around. Hopefully we'll get together soon for some summer fun!!

Lucy was so sad to miss the party. Wasn't it just yesterday that we were all having our baby girls? Where did 7 years go? Meggy is so darling. I'm glad she had a happy birthday.

I just stopped by to see if you had posted (its been a while ;) and you did! Meg is 7!!! Wow! I can't believe it! I agree with you, Heather, they need to stop growing so fast! David said to me the other day "Colin is gonna be one soon" and I was like "Ack! No, No, NO, NO! Don't say that!!! He is 9 months old. Not even CLOSE to one! Sheesh..." Just about gave me a heart attack... This growing up thing is hard on moms, I think. At least it sure is for me!

We miss you guys! Hope we can see you again soon!

P.S. Love the picture of you and Meg - you're both so pretty! And the party looked so fun! You did an amazing job with the cake and cupcakes - you're hired for Colin's party. ;)
