Waterfall Weekend

I meant to update our blog sooner, but we have had a crazy week. We have all been pretty sick with some nasty bug. Currently, Brian has absolutely no voice. I mean all he can do right now is whisper. I keep having to translate for the kids to be able to understand him. We think his turned into Laryngitis. It was a bad time to get it because he was supposed to speak in church this morning. He had to call the Bishop because his voice still wasn't back. Adin and I got the bug and were over it pretty fast. Meg was the first one to get it and she is still struggling with it. Brian got it last and worst of all.

Last weekend, we made a trip up to Brigham City (which isn't much of a trip these days). Brian's parents watched Adin while the me, Brian, and Meg took a hike up to Brigham Cities' waterfall. The waterfall is on the mountain behind the house that I grew up in. The path that leads to the waterfall was right next to our yard. So we parked in front of my old house and started the journey. Meg was very excited about our adventure. She did a pretty good job for the first fifteen minutes. Then the terrain gets a little steep and rough. It ended up being Brian carrying Meg up the mountain.

We started exploring at the top of the waterfall. This picture still gives me the heebie jeebies. I am pretty scared of heights. Meg was really cute because she just kept saying how she couldn't belive how beautiful it was. Everything was beautiful...the butterflies, the view of Brigham City, the waterfall. She was amazed by every little thing. A little ways past the waterfall is a little tiny grove a trees with a little pond. We taught Meg how to take a picture. She does a pretty good job. Then we decided to head down. Brian, wanted to scale down the center of the waterfall so I told him that I would take Meg down the path. This is the part of the path that is rough and steep. I guess I didn't do as good of a job because Meg kept stopping and saying she wanted Daddy and kept refusing to go any further. I don't blame her, I didn't feel very safe myself. We met Brian down in the middle of the waterfall. It was really pretty here. We spent quite a while sitting there. We found a catapillar in the waterfall and had to carry it down on a stick. After much investigation on Brian's part he found out what kind of catapillar it was and what it would eat (dandelions) and it is now a household pet in a jar on the container.

It was a windy day so next we decided to go fly a kite.

Brian doesn't have the greatest track history with kites. He really likes to get them up really high. He achieves this by tying together multiple rolls of kite string until you can't really see the kite anymore. Sometimes his knots don't hold quite as well as they need to. We have chased many runaway kites in the car, trecked through peoples backyards in search of lost kites and even borrowed some electrical workers ladder to climb onto someone roof to retrieve a kite. This picture has disaster written all over it.

Adin was along for the kite flying. He loves his stroller.

Unfortunately, it was just too tempting to get out of his stroller and run around. This was an open invitation for Meg to sit in his stroller. This is Adin heading back to scold Meg. He was so mad. He came marching back and stopped about 5 feet from Meg, bent his knees so he was at eye level, pointed his finger, crinkled his brow and started giving Meg a good talking to. It was hilarious.

Thanks to daddy for giving Meg a ride home so that Adin could have his stroller back.
