THE INTERVIEW (dum dum dum)
Well...yesterday was the big day. We were both so nervous for Brian's BYU interview. Brian went to a lot of work studying up on the people who were interviewing him, and he studied everything written about the program. I think that I was more physically sick about it this time then he was. Before I married Brian and up until last year I had never experienced a true nervous belly. I had felt nervous or anxious about things but it had never made me physically ill. I was physically ill about this interview for three days. Brian remained pretty composed.
Brian said the interview went well. He was interiviewed along with ten people. The other ten people were interviewed on Thursday. Many of interviewees had big egos, which probably led to their demise. During any of the group activities they would try to steal the show and would even interrupt people and treated the professors with disrespect. The day was rigorous. It lasted from 9:00 in the morning and went until 5:45 at night. After the group interview, he had three seperate interviews with different professors. He felt all of those went pretty well, but one of them went really well. Then after that they had a closing meeting where they informed them that they would definitely know if they were in or not by the end of this weekend if not by that night (Friday).
We were both shocked that we would hear back so soon. Out of the three schools he interviewed at last year it took anywhere from 2-4 weeks to hear back. We went to Mike and Melanie's for dinner and were playing a rather addicting game of guitar hero when Brian's cell phone rang..........and..........................................................is...............................................the............................... ...............suspense..............................................more..................................................................than............. you.................................can..................................bear........................................................WE GOT IN!!!!!!
Thankfully we were with Mike and Mel when we found out because Brian and I just stared at each other in complete shock. Mike and Mel jumped around yelling and giving high fives. It made the whole experience so much more fun and memorable. Brian and I honestly felt like we were dreaming and our heads were just spinning and my hands were shanking. It is just crazy that we got in to the one program we thought was the least likely possibility of being accepted. Dr. Warren (the head professor of the selection committee) told Brian that he should be very proud of himself because the entire committee was very impressed by his application but even more impressed by his interview. He also told Brian to go out and celebrate because this is a very big deal. We are really having trouble digesting the information. We are going to let it sit for a couple days and then weigh the pros and cons. We are still waiting to hear back from three other schools. Right now we are just going to try to enjoy the fact that we actually got in to a Ph.D. program at BYU. I am so proud of him and how far he has come. We'll keep everyone updated as things progress.

Congratulations! We thought you guys would get into BYU, it is always the one that seems the least likely. At least it has worked that way for us. Oh, Rise all loyal Cougars...........you may be singing that soon.(again)just in case your wondering this is Jeni.
Oh wow!!! Congrats you guys! What great news!
You already know how excited Mike and I are for you guys!!! Hooray!! I'm so glad you found out while you were over.It was so fun to be happy for you. Although I will admit that we totally acted the same way you and Brian did when Mike got his first job offer. We just kind of stared at each other in shock. We love you guys! Congratulations!! You definitely need to celebrate, even if you don't accept it. It's a huge accomplishment and Brian and you deserve the best.
